DRS Defense Solutions Employees Honored by Department of Defense CIO
ROCKVILLE, MD., FEBRUARY 21, 2011 – DRS Defense Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRS Technologies, Inc. announced today that two employees of its Technical Services business unit were part of a military and civilian team that received first place in the 2011 Department of Defense Chief Information Officer Awards.
More than 70 nominations were submitted worldwide for the prestigious award, now in its 11th year, which recognizes achievement in information management and information technology. The first place team award was presented in a ceremony at the Pentagon.
“This honor recognizes our sustained commitment to overall excellence in customer service,” said DRS Technical Services President Mitch Rambler. “While we take pride in this recognition of our employees’ hard work, our greatest satisfaction comes from the knowledge that their efforts are making a difference in the field."
The winning DRS Technical Services team members hail from the company’s Global Enterprise Solutions (GES) line of business, based out of Herndon, Va., which supports contracts in Europe and Southwest Asia. Specifically, they are assigned to a Communications Technical Support Southwest Asia (CTSS) contract that provides assistance to the Directorate of Communications, Office of the Defense Representative Pakistan/J6 at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. The team also consisted of key military personnel from the U.S. Air Force and Navy, as well as employees of Lockheed Martin and Mutual Telecom Services, Inc.
The CTSS contract is run out of the Space and Naval Warfare System Center (SSC) Atlantic in Charleston, S.C. The CTSS team was recognized for its work engineering and installing VPN connections, creating communications kits and expanding video conferencing capability.
