CHAMMPS© – Combined Heating Air-conditioning Medium Mobile Power System
The Combined Heating Air-conditioning Medium Mobile Power System (CHAMMPS©) generates electrical power while simultaneously providing environmental control to shelters. CHAMMPS© is capable of providing 30kW of export power, with no Environmental Control Unit (ECU), and a minimum of 20kW of export power while supplying 20kW of heating or 5 tons of cooling. The generator has the capacity to perform up to 140°F with full load. The system is substantially more efficient, more compact, weighs less and uses significantly less fuel than currently fielded systems.
CHAMMPS© features an EPA Interim Tier 4 engine with electronic control to ensure optimum performance and efficiency, while providing embedded monitoring and diagnostic capability and a low acoustic signature. It recovers heat from the generator’s engine, normally lost to the environment, and turns it into useful energy. The unit was designed using common components from the existing DRS Tactical Quiet Generator (TQG) product line. CHAMMPS© is capable of meeting military standards for environmental requirements including electromagnetic interference, vibration, shock, noise, rain, salt, fog, sand and dust.
